Is our sector at risk of inadequate infrastructure investment and are we to blame?
In their research and recently published article The Nonprofit Starvation Cycle, (Stanford Social Innovation Review- Fall 2009) Ann Googins-Gregory and Don Howard document the forces at play that can deprive organizations of much-needed overhead funding, highlight the real costs of doing business in the private sector and organizations’ responses in the current climate.  Their experience and research suggest roles for grantees, their trustees and funders. We all share a vested interest in a healthy, vibrant and effective charitable and nonprofit sector.  Presenter: Ann Goggins Gregory - The Bridgespan Group

Utilizing Skilled Volunteers, Are you Ready?
In studying how the Not-for-Profit Sector works, Vantage Point (formerly Volunteer Vancouver) has discovered critical pieces that must be in place before organizations really can begin to engage the "next" volunteer. Skilled and talented volunteers can complement the skill set of paid employees and become a key component in ensuring not-for-profit organizations achieve their outcomes. These volunteers are people who are seeking a time-specific, meaningful role in a community organization. In order for community organizations to incorporate the skill and passion these individuals have to offer, there must first be a huge focus on the employees in these organizations. It truly is about engaging ALL the people differently – and begins with a focus on those we pay with money.
Presenter:       Colleen Kelly, Executive Director, Vantage Point
